Ugo Lequio Barbaresco Gallina 2017

“Old vines here 1953, 1963, 1971 – and raised in large format oak. Gallina is a great cru. Mixed berries, dried flowers, new leather and liquorice tea. Medium-bodied, juicy and fragrant, a dried flower and tea perfume, exotic spice, rosehip and raspberry, fine mineral feel to it, and quite stony/earthy too, maybe a touch of warmth, but the fragrance and charm is laid on thick. More of that liquorice coming through on a long and pretty fresh finish. Tannin offers sure grip and lavish Neive charm to close. Great wine, and a super offering from such a warm vintage. Yum.” 94 points – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
