The Forget family have worked the vines for over 200 years since the 19th century and made their first sparkling Champagnes in 1929.

The Champagne House of Forget-Brimont is based in Ludes, a small village with Premier Cru classification in the heart of Montagne de Reims, one of the most prestigious terroirs in the Champagne region.  Led by 6th generation family member, Michel Forget, the Maison works 20 hectares with Grand Cru (Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay) or Premier Cru (Chigny-les-Roses, Ludes, Montbré, Sermiers, Taissy, Villers-Allerand) classification, mainly planted to Pinot Noir.

Forget-Brimont adopted a sustainable viticulture and minimal-intervention method 20 years ago which is respectful of the soil and the vine.  All fertilisers used are natural and treatment is targeted and kept to a minimum.  Grape hand-pickers are paid by the hour, not per kilogram to ensure perfect maturity of the grapes.  The care taken in cultivating the vine is extended to the winemaking, for which a non-interventionist approach has been adopted to allow full expression of the terroirs and varieties.  Only the first press (la cuvée) is used and only the best of that pressing is kept to adhere to the commitment to quality and purity.

The wines do not contain additives and are not fined.  The wines are matured on their lees in thermoregulated tanks before bottling. Blending with a high proportion (40% to 50%) of reserve wines of almost 10 different years in each cuvée, except Vintages, adds depth and complexity. The Champagnes then undergo a lengthy second fermentation 15 metres underground in traditional chalk cellars where they are left to mellow between 30 months and 10 years.  Forget-Brimont are one of the lasts houses of Champagne to still continue digging its own cellars today.  After dosage, the wines are laid down for an additional two to six months before release. These standards exceed the minimum requirements of the Champagne Appellation.
