This Pinot Noir exhibits damson and truffle notes with a streak of leafy whole bunch ferment character.  Red berries abound on the palate along with the same deep plum notes that are present on the bouquet.  It is graceful, fine and has a bit of new school sass thrown in.  If you like it bold, ripe and youthful then drink in the next 2-4 years. For more mature characters, buy it and lay down – the Bird Rock has a reputation for rewarding time spent in the cellar.

The grapes were hand-picked, crushed and fermented in 3 tonne open fermenters, with 50% whole bunches. One third matured in new French oak barriques, the balance in 1 year old barriques, all for 12 months on fine lees.

Reviews & Awards

Bellbrae Estate

“Best Wineries of the Regions” + “5 black stars”

“The Surf Coast area of Geelong enjoys a slightly milder climate overall than other areas of the Geelong viticultural region. Being so close to Bass Strait, Bellbrae Estate experiences a maritime influence that reduces the risk of frost in spring and provides more even temperature ranges during summer – ideal growing conditions for producing elegant wines that retain their natural acidity.”
