Arnaud Baillot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru AC 2017

Concentrated and powerful

Corton-Charlemagne is a great way to delve into the world of Grand Cru wines and is central to Arnaud’s heart.  The Corton-Charlemagne appellation is highly notorious and has an emblematic historical dimension. Its vines were given by Charlemagne to the collegiate church of Saint Andoche de Saulieu in 775.  Arnaud’s southeast facing parcel lies between the communes of Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton.  This exposure results in a rounder and more expressive wine than east-facing Charlemagne (Ladoix-Serrigny area) which are colder and more austere.

Reviews & Awards

“94 points”

“In this ripe white-wine year, Corton-Charlemagne is especially powerful.  This wine’s considerable concentration unfurls swathes of rich white fruits filled out with minerality and crispened by acidity. The wine’s potential is long term and it shouldn’t be touched before 2023.”
Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, January 2019
