Founder Javier Palacios was born and raised amongst the vineyards in Rioja. A trip to Burgundy inspired a search for gifted terroir to make unrepeatable wines distinct of origin. Palacios Vinos de Finca unites his estates Proeilo from Rioja and Trus from Ribero de Duero. Javier and his team work in collaboration with industry veterans Pedro Parra and Alberto Antonini, who help them create unique and authentic wines showing regional tipicity.

Proelio is founded on the search for unspoiled areas worked the traditional way, with respect for the soil, which is the guiding principle of its wines.Proelio has found high-elevation cool-climate sites planted with old vines that are painstakingly tended to produce wines that are both unique and very much a reflection of this area in Rioja. Their work system is based on the characterisation and classification of each individual vineyard according the soil, soil-plant relationship and the viticulture required for each plot. A tireless search for small plots with special and distinct characteristics to produce unique wines is one of the strengths of Proelio. Trus is an acronym for Tierra, Roble, Uva and Sol (Land, Oak, Grape and Sun), seeks to capture the essence of Tempranillo prioritising the expression of the territory. The team works extremely hard to identify and select the best micro-terroirs within its vineyards in order to produce unique, unparalleled wines. Altitude is one of the most important factors to balanced ripening of the grapes in a warm climate. The goal is to produce wines that are both refined and rounded, that also mirror the climatic year.

From vineyards aged between 40 -70 years, 85% Tempranillo, 12% Grenache select harvested.
