The Sutton Grange vineyard is cultivated with organic and biodynamic methods, and the wines are traditionally handcrafted by winemaker Gilles Lapalus. The wines combine Gilles’ distinctive style and interpretation with the organically grown estate fruit. The release of Sutton Grange Winery wines in 2003 were originally the title of Fairbank. With the maturity of the vines a premium label named Sutton Grange Estate has been released which exemplify their determination to produce great wines.

"At Sutton Grange, Lapalus produces some of Australia’s best, most complex and textually satisfying wines: pale but powerful rosé, minerally viognier and svelte, spicy syrah with a gorgeous Gallic twang."
Max Allen, Gourmet Traveller, July 2010
"Makes magnificent Shiraz with both texture and minerality."
Andrew Jefford, Financial Times 2010

Sutton Grange 'Fairbank' Viognier
91 points (2009 vintage)
"Brilliant straw-green; skilled winemaking avoids phenolics, but leaves varietal character on display; whole bunch-pressed and wild yeast-fermented results in a complex wine."
James Halliday, www.winecompanion.com.au, Aug 2010
Sutton Grange 'Fairbank' Rosé
92 points (2010 vintage)
"Terrific fresh wild strawberry aromas in this pale pink rose; smells sweet and pure. The palate carries a core of deeply textural sweet fruit flavour-more strawberry here too – and finishes crisp, dry and even. Utterly delicious stand-alone drink."
Nick Stock, The Penguin Good Wine Guide 2011
"Exciting, complex and delicious." (2010 vintage)
Ben Knight, The Grapevine 2011
Sutton Grange 'Fairbank' Rouge
92 points (2009 vintage)
"This is in the Emerging Reds Chapter on the basis of style, not grape varieties. I first tasted this as it was being pressed after fermentation and darn near hopped into the tank it was so good! It’s a roughly 50/50 blend of biodynamic estate-grown syrah and merlot with lots of carbonic maceration, but no yeast, enzyme acid or tannin added, just a dose of sulphur at bottling. Super-fragrant, juicy red, really perfumed and delicious, with plenty of fresh red and dark berry flavour, fine smooth tannins and a resolutely balanced finish."
Nick Stock, The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010
Sutton Grange 'Fairbank' Cabernet Merlot
95 points (2005 vintage)
"A robust, assertively structured and long term cabernet of exceptional elegance and terrific value."
Jeremy Oliver, The Australian Wine Annual 2009
Sutton Grange 'Estate' Syrah
"Gorgeously aromatic, beautifully poised." (2007 vintage)
Max Allen, Weekend Australian 2011
93 points (2006 vintage)
"Complexity and contrast. Opens meaty, stinky and reductive, but also perfumed. There’s pepper, black fruit, toffee and subtle pretty cinnamon spiced oak along with some camphor/menthol notes and liquorice which comes up with air. It’s very dry and savoury with plenty of chalky chewy tannin and unforced acidity – it feels a little soapy and alkaline, which works for me – I don’t much like reds that taste too acidic. There’s some dried herbal bitterness on the finish along with a sort of malt or waffle flavour. Ripe but not sweet. Has a lot of style and swagger. Certainly holds your interest. A fascinating wine that sits apart from the (local) mainstream. Drink 2010-2018."
Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, www.winefront.com.au, Nov 2010
Sutton Grange 'Estate' 'Giove'
"A meat lover’s wine." (2009 vintage)
"A sangiovese made with a European sensibility aiming for overall savouriness, smelling and tasting of soil: undergrowth, fungal, wild herbs, mint, wild spice drawn together tightly with minerality. A meat lover’s wine."
Jeni Port, The Age, Epicure, Jan 2012
