Lenton Brae was established in 1982 by Perth town planner and architect, Bruce Tomlinson. Lenton Brae’s philosophy is to produce a limited range of wines, for which the Margaret River region is renowned, and for these wines to be amongst the best of their type. To this end, four wine styles are produced; Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Trophies awarded across the range at regional, state and national levels can attest to the dedication of the Tomlinson family in their endeavours.

Lenton Brae

One of the ‘Best of the Best’ Wineries and 5/5 red stars
Former architect and town planner Bruce Tomlinson built a strikingly beautiful winery (now heritage listed by the Shire of Busselton), which is now in the hands of winemaker son Edward, who consistently makes elegant wines in classic Margaret River style…”

Lenton Brae Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

4.5 out of 5 stars (2011 vintage)
“WA had a cracker vintage this year and here you have a textbook lesson on this famed regional blend. The sauvignon blanc aromas of grassy herbs lead the way with lovely textural back-up from the semillon, some citrus bite and a bit of bodyweight as well. The two work a treat in this outing, totally in balance and support of each other. Lovely stuff. Rating:  4.5 out of 5 stars – A cut above. Value: Very good. Food: Scallops and pork belly.”
Tony Love, National Wine Writer, taste.com.au, August 2011

94/100 points, “(…) a top example of the regional style. (…).”(2011 vintage)
“The 25th anniversary wine of Lenton Brae SSB – so three cheers for them. They’ve knocked out a good one too. Some tomato bush and capsicum spice but not pungent or obnoxious, it’s just varietal seasoning here. There’s passionfruit, grapefruit and spice on a light fresh zesty palate that has good focus and a decisive finish (many go a little limp at the last). Verve, balance and low artifice. Vinous and refreshing – a top example of the regional style. Drink 2011 – 2015.”

Lenton Brae ‘Southside’ Chardonnay

Lenton Brae ‘Wilyabrup’ Chardonnay

95/100 points (2008 vintage)
James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2011

“(…) Delicious…” (2008 vintage)
“The 2008 Wilyabrub Chardonnay was fermented and matured in new and 1 year French oak. It provides pronounced notes of white peach, warm grapefruit, cedar and cream. This medium bodied wine has a high level of refreshing acidity with a good amount of citrusy / stone fruit flavors and a long finish. Delicious now, it should keep to 2014.”
Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate, Oct 2010

94/100 points (2008 vintage)
“(…). Margaret River Chardonnay at its world-beating best.”

Lenton Brae ‘Wilyabrup’ Cabernet Sauvignon

96/100 points (2008 vintage)
“Unmistakable cassis and mulberry-soaked Cabernet style. The palate’s taut and wellstructured with a juicy swathe of flavour, dense yet fine tannins and superb balance ensures they don’t overwhelm. This will age suberbly.”
Nick Stock, WBM Wine 100, June 2011

96/100 points (2008 vintage)
“Another mighty step up the ladder to be among the best cabernets in the region. This is pure class. (…).”
Ray Jordan, WA Wine Guide 2011

93/100 points (2008 vintage)
“A fine follow up to the excellent 2007 release.  Blackcurrant and redcurrant, bay and gum leaf, chocolate – typically perfumed and graceful. It’s medium to full-bodied with a slightly  ‘twiggy’ character, but fresh and lively with fine grained tannin and a fractionally warm finish – although it’s a long one, for sure. Reflects the cooler vintage when compared to the 2007, but a lovely wine all the same. Classy.”
Gary Walsh, The Winefront, March 2011

Lenton Brae Cabernet Merlot

“(…) ripe plums, crushed blackberries, cloves, cinnamom stick…” (2009 vintage)
“Consisting of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2009 Cabernet Merlot gives a deep garnet-purple color and aromas of ripe plums, crushed blackberries, cloves, cinnamon stick and tree bark plus a touch of graphite. With medium-high acid, medium-firm fine textured tannins and good concentration packed into a modest medium bodied style, it finishes long and spicy. Approachable now, it should soften and develop over the next 12-18 months and drink to 2015+.”
Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate, Oct 2010
